William H. van Nes
Wilhelmus Hendrikus (Bill/Wim) van Nes of Ethel, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 30, 2016, days after celebrating his 81st birthday with his family. Bill was born on a farm in Leusden, Holland on July 23, 1935 to the late Jacobus and Matilda (Blom) van Nes.
Bill was the beloved husband of the late Margaret (Terpstra) van Nes (Dec. 8, 2000) and the father and opa to Terry Ann and Rich De Wetering, Sebringville and their children Greta and Harry; Mary Lynn and Tom Ott, Modesto, California and their children Helen, Melissa, Theresa, Thomas, Maria, Nicholas and Carl; Kathy and Pawel Brudnicki, Mississauga and their children Krysia, Jozef, and Emma; Tina and John Vehof, Bright and their children Jessica, Nicole, Ben and Joshua; Bill and Cindy van Nes, Brussels and their children Eric, Julia, Grace, Rose, Laura, Willem and Hendrik; and Bob and Andrea van Nes, Ethel and their children Benetta, Charles, Johanna, Sarah, Alison and Alex.
He was the dear brother of Theo van Nes, Alice van Dyk, Jack van Nes, and Harry and Marijke van Nes and the dear brother-in-law to Betty van Nes, Emma and Henk Boersen, Hennie Terpstra, Catherine Terpstra, Julie and Martin van Bakel, Nick and Catherine Terpstra, Herman and Rosemary Terpstra, Joe and Miriam Terpstra, Joanne de Brabendere and Mary Terpstra. Bill was also loved by his several nieces and nephews and his dedicated caregivers Carissa Redford and Ginette Zaba.
Bill was predeceased by his son Nick (2001), his father and mother-in-law Nicholas and Johanna Terpstra, his sister Rita and Fred Baker, brother Henk van Nes, brothers-in-law Ben Terpstra, Charlie Terpstra and Jim van Dyk, sisters-in-law Helen Terpstra, Regina van Nes, and Teresa van Nes, and nephew Brian Terpstra.
Bill had a passion for farming and the countryside that lasted his entire life and a visible love for his Dutch Harness cart horses. He will be missed by all.
Friends were received by the family on Monday, Aug. 8 at the Schimanski Family Funeral Home, Brussels. The Funeral Mass was celebrated from St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Brussels on Tuesday, Aug. 9. Rev. Father Keith Morrison officiated. Burial followed at St. Ambrose Cemetery, Brussels.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Canadian Food for Children or to St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church would be appreciated by the family.
