Farmers’ Market adds to Bayfield’s tasty
tradition
Bayfield has its own relaxed way of
doing things and that includes the village’s farmers’ market which began in
2014.
The market is nestled in a shady
corner of Clan Gregor Square, just steps from the shops, restaurants and art
galleries on Bayfield’s tree-lined main street.
They’re serious about the local food
movement at the Bayfield market. Any food vendors sell must be produced within
75 km of Bayfield, which doesn’t restrict the variety on offer because there
are so many growers in the local area, from produce and meat to baked goods and
preserves. As well as freshness, many of the vendors can offer organic
products.
The market runs every Friday
afternoon from May 18 to October 5 and is a favourite both with discriminating
local shoppers and cottagers stocking up for the weekend.
While
parents shop, their children can enjoy themselves in the adjacent playground
and splash pad.
